Frequently asked questions

Answers to frequently asked questions about contract manufacturing, private label and our products.

Which products can be manufactured via Lubry?

We produce cosmetic, consumer and cleaning products – including lubricants, powders, massage oils, creams, perfumes and disinfectants and cleaning agents.
Thanks to our wide range of raw materials and packaging, we can put together complete series individually and deliver them throughout Europe.

What is the difference between private label and contract manufacturing?

Private label:
We use tried-and-tested recipes, some of which have been established on the market for up to 15 years. The products are often already pre-produced and bottled so that only the label needs to be adapted. This means that the time-to-market is very short.

Contract manufacturing:
Here we adapt recipes flexibly (e.g. other flavors, colors or additives). Each change must be retested and documented, which takes approx. 4 months in total (3 months of testing plus evaluation and documentation).

What production and minimum quantities apply?

Minimum quantities for bulk production (e.g. lubricating gels): approx. 400-500 liters/kilogram. Smaller quantities are only possible for products that can be mixed by hand, such as massage oils.

Minimum quantities for tubes:
5,000 units (usually economically viable from 10,000 units). Empty tubes can be stored for 1-1.5 years (example: we buy 10,000 tubes and initially only fill 5,000).

Minimum quantities for bottles:
from 1,000 pieces (for stock items).

What are the schedules and test phases?

In contract manufacturing, the test phase for modified recipes takes a total of approx. 4 months.

Once the recipe has been approved, label production takes around 2 weeks after the print data has been released.

The filling and production time, including testing and documentation, is approx. 2-3 weeks on average, depending on the production quantity, provided the packaging and raw materials are in stock.

What legal aspects and documentation does Lubry handle?

Lubry is always named as the responsible distributor and manufacturer. Lubry takes care of all the documentation and checks the legal conformity of the products and packaging. The customer supplies its logo, advertising texts, etc., and Lubry ensures that the legal requirements are met.

Safety data sheets are available online for consumer goods and cleaning agents. The Lubry website is available in almost all European languages and customers can download the relevant documents directly.

What options are there for advertising claims and Dermatest certification?

Lubry provides an overview of the ingredients and gives advice on which advertising claims are permissible.

Dermatest test results are already available for many existing formulations (all rated “very good”). Customers can use the Dermatest logo for a fee, but must obtain approval from Dermatest for its use (e.g. in advertisements). New formulations can also be certified.
